The induction ceremony is going to be held on my birthday next year, March 15th -- thanks to el kay giving me the scoop, I found I do have that FUSE network on my satellite set-up, so I will be recording the show and then making her a disc to see whatever Genesis does, participates in that evening.  Does anyone else here need me to burn a DVD for you to be able to see it as well, or are you guys covered, you have this network your own selves?

Well, finally!  Roll Eyes

Tony says it's his fault for it taking so long:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/31347782/genesis_rutherford_and_banks_reflect_on_rock_and_roll_hall_of_fame_induction

Are you surprised by the news?

Certain kinds of bands tend to be favored for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, more of the sort of guitar-based stuff and everything. As the keyboard player I guess I'm the one keeping us out of there I suppose.

This my other favorite from the piece:

Bands usually perform at these inductions, have you talked to your bandmates at all?

We haven't really talked about it yet whether we do something small or might do something a bit more, but not the full band. I don't feel a great need to play. I'm happy just to drink in that zone.

Hey Mo I wouldn't mind a copy if it's not to much to ask. We don't have pay TV so I have zero chance of seeing the ceremony. Frankly I'd be surprised if it even gets mentioned down here as Genesis aren't exactly well known.

Rumor is that Phish is going to play some genesis songs at the HOF event.

Happy Birthday, Mo!  Hug

Trey is inducting them, I guess it would make sense that Phish would play. I thought it was an odd choice, maybe there's something about Phish I don't know.

I'm actually excited about this induction, which surprises me- I didn't think I cared about the HoF! It's probably because of the dispatches from the forum members who are in New York, I wish we could have gone up, but duty calls.

I thought they did a good job with Watcher; I was impressed. No Reply, on the other hand, seemed forced and didn't have the energy it should have.

Trey did a pretty good job with the induction. It was nice to see someone who really loved the band do the honors.

Ya beat me, James!

The first shot we get of Mike, enjoying the opening of Watcher

Then Tony, you can see in his eyes better live that he's liking what he hears

Steve next up

Then Phil -- at first I'd thought he'd gone super duper formal with white bow tie, but then as I was making the screen caps, I saw he's just relaxing with the collar undone.   Wink

Two tables, they were sitting on the inside of each, so in a sense they all sat together

Tony laughing at Phil quipping that Phish *proves* someone else ought to have played the G-tunes.

Mike the first to speak, noting Peter not with them, emphatic that is was "genuine" and legitimate", I myself appreciated him saying it the way he did, also the earlier phone conversation that Peter had with Tony assuring them he wasn't snubbing them at all -- I understand how many fans are feeling, but for me, it was more about how the friends were feeling about Peter and the timing situation.

KiwiDave in NZ was able to play the DVD I sent last year, same with  Bender in the UK, so you should be able to play what I make.  PM with your addy -- they didn't join in on any music set, so the Genesis/induction is the only time we see the guys.  If you really want it, I will put the entire ceremony on disc for you ... you know I love you when I'm willing to tolerate Faith Hill singing ABBA for you.

I wonder if sales for Selling England by the Pound will increase based on Trey's raving review of it.
